Stephen Michaels is an accomplished actor, acting coach, playwright, and director based in New York. His career began at Harvard, where he performed in leading roles including Hamlet in Hamlet and Bunthorne in Patience. He went on to deliver memorable performances in both Boston and New York theatre, with credits such as Jim Tyrone in Moon for the Misbegotten, Judge Brack in Hedda Gabler, Tony Wendice in Dial ‘M’ for Murder, Trigorin in The Seagull, and Tusenbach in The Three Sisters.
Trained by renowned teachers including Lee Strasberg, Larry Moss, and David Gideon, Stephen brings a deep understanding of the craft to both stage and classroom. He has taught for more than two decades at leading institutions such as the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute, the American Academy of Dramatic Art, and New York University. In addition to acting, he is a long-standing member of the Playwrights and Directors Unit of the Actors Studio, with four full-length plays developed there and more than twenty productions directed in New York City.
